A Cincinnati mom is being charged in a class brawl that occurred at Withrow High School last week. The mom, Precious Allen, 31, barged into a classroom and assisted her daughter in beating up another student, according to police. Allen also held the other teenager down while she told her daughter to hit the girl in the face with a lock.
The brutal assault left the 15-year-old student with cuts and bruises, and a teacher suffered a black eye during the brawl. On Feb. 12, Yahoo! reported that the candidate for "Mom of the Year" was arrested and is being charged with felonious assault and aggravated criminal trespass.
The 14-year-old daughter of Allen was also charged with felonious assault, assault and criminal trespass, based on the police report.
The incident started around 2 p.m. Thursday when Allen, her daughter, and another woman, Dawn Brunner, 28, entered the high school after a student let them in.
After refusing to check in at the front office, the trio headed straight to a classroom, said police spokeswoman Sgt. Julian Johnson.
"Initially the mother got into a verbal altercation with the 15-year-old, and then the mother told her daughter to hit the girl," Johnson said.
Allen's daughter and the other student then started exchanging blows and that's when the mom decided to join in on the action. Allen started punching the girl and then proceeded to hold her down while her daughter delivered a devastating blow to the face with a combination lock.
During the brawl, the teacher, Kim Kilby, was punched in the face by Allen's daughter after trying to break up the fight and she received a black eye for her actions. The other woman, Brunner, did not take part in the beating, however, she was charged with criminal trespass, police say.
On Monday, Cincinnati Police Chief James Craig said,
"You hear this story and you wonder: 'Why would a parent get involved when this is something that should have been handled through the school?' This should be a message to any adult, or parent or guardian who decides to engage in this type of activity."
Both the mom charged in the class brawl and Brunner are currently out on bail and they will learn the penalty for their actions when the case goes to trial.
