A mom accused of slapping a bride, her daughter, at a wedding has found herself in quite a bit of trouble. On Oct. 17, ABC News reported that 55-year-old Leslie Duane got a little bit too drunk at her daughter's wedding over the weekend -- so drunk, in fact, that she needed to be escorted out of the reception. As she was being helped by her daughter a few other wedding guests, Duane allegedly slapped her daughter across the face.
"Duane was freed on $200 bail and ordered to have no contact with her daughter after pleading not guilty to assault and battery Wednesday. Duane's lawyer says the daughter tried to bail out her mother and that the no contact order is too much," ABC News reports.
The mom accused of slapping the bride is from West Haven, Conn. but was at the Arabian Horse Farm Inn in Sudbury for her daughter's wedding when everything went down. According to the original report, Duane was found in the bushes by Sudbury Police. She was swearing up a storm and she made claims that her daughter actually assaulted her.
Fortunately for the bride, several people witnessed Duane's actions and told police the same story -- that she got violent and slapped her daughter across the face. While Duane says the wedding was "beautiful" you can bet that this incident was one that will not soon be forgotten by any of the guests or the bride and groom. It's very easy for something like this to taint such a beautiful day.
The mom accused of slapping the bride is due back in court on Dec. 6.
