A Hamilton mother is behind bars, on one million dollars bond - charged with killing her newborn baby and lying to police about it. Butler County Prosecutor Robin Piper says he will seek the death penalty.
25-year-old Asuncion Villa called 9-1-1 and said her ex-boyfriend took the baby Sunday and never came back.
Things just didn't add up when police went to her apartment and started asking questions.
Early Tuesday morning, police found the baby's body wrapped in a garbage bag - in a garbage can - in the alley behind her apartment building.
Israel Santos' head had been crushed and his arm was broken. Investigators believe he may have been dead for two days.
Villa faced a judge Wednesday morning and said nothing while her bond was set.
She is charged with murder, endangering children, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
