Molly Carroll captures female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com.

When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

2014 spring season- Week 7- June 2nd-June 7th

Female

Molly Carroll- MDI- softball - The junior went 4-4 with four RBI, three doubles, and three runs scored in 16-2 win over Ellsworth.

Carroll and the Trojans finished 11-5 and as the number seven seed in the final MPA class B heal point standings. MDI will host Camden Hills in a prelim game on Tuesday.

Carroll is the second student/athlete from MDI to be named athlete of the week. Tom Paola earned the honor on May 24th.

Runner up

Abbey Jordan- Dexter- softball- Allowed one earned run on five hits, while striking out seven, and had a triple and three RBI in 14-2 win over Orono. Pitched a complete game six hitter, striking out 10 in 4-2 win over PCHS.

Other nominations

Becca Kelley- Central- Pitched a three hitter, striking out 10 in 15-0 victory over Orono.
