This quiet stately museum, Molly Brown House, will soon open its doors to nights of Victorian Halloween Horror! But no worries, it's not as scary as it sounds. Already, Molly Brown House Museum is decorated for the celebration with Victorian Halloween elements in every room, and in the event hall,a lovely display of photos, decorations and a specially made Halloween costume of the traditional Victorian material - crepe paper!
Starting the evening of October 18th at 6 pm, many popular Denver area actors - including David and Julie Paine, and Jim Hunt - will descend upon the house dressed as their favorite Victorian author, telling tales and giving readings from the best of Victorian horror and spooky tales. Expect to hear excerpts from the works of Mary Shelley', Mr. Poe, and H.G. Wells, to name a few.
Tours start every 15 minutes, and guests will travel from room to room throughout the house to hear the tales and get some family friendly scares. The top floor ballroom will also be open for this event; a room that is not generally seen on tours. Each tour ends in the carriage house with goodies and cider to eat, and Halloween related wares for sale. In the event hall, popular parlor games are available to play.
Everyone is encouraged to come in costume, and families are welcome - all younger visitors with receive a goodie bag!
This event is the evenings of October 18th and 19th, and October 25th and 26th. The tours start at 6 pm, the last tour will start at 8:45 pm. Each tour lasts about an hour. Tickets are $15 for members, seniors and children, $18 for non members. Looking to expand the Halloween fun? Consider as well the Witches Brew Full Tea on October 26th! Come dressed in your very best witch costume, explore the decorations and the house, and enjoy a high tea in grand Victorian style. Prizes are offered for the best costumes, and vegetarian and gluten free options are available with advance notice.
