With the launch of Title Update 14 on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 edition of Minecraft and TU15 already submitted for certification testing to release soon, many fans may be wondering about the current status of 4J Studios’ next-gen versions of the popular block-building game that ware currently in development for Xbox One and PS4. On an update from April 3 to a report by The Epoch Times, a comment from Mojang was recently discovered in a listing from the publisher’s patch notes from the release of TU14.
As Mojang only serves as the publisher for the console editions of Minecraft, most fans read the changelog directly from developer 4J Studios. As such the Mojang comment, which follows, went largely unnoticed.
For you guys asking about the Xbox One and Playstation 4 edition: It is being worked on as we speak! I got no proper dates yet, but hopefully soon we can tell you!
The good news from the comment is that it confirms that work on the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game is still be underway and weren’t halted while the developer prepared TU14 and TU15. Further revealing that the next-gen editions of Minecraft aren’t far off, new Xbox head Phil Spencer also informed fans that Minecraft: Xbox One Edition should be out soon.
