“Civilization IV” Lead Designer Soren Johnson announced the creation of a new strategy game studio, Mohawk Games, today via a press release obtained by Examiner.
The company will also include co-founder Dorian Newcomb, art director of “Civilization V” and Brad Wardell, designer of the Galactic Civilizations series. Mohawk also said in the release that they are currently recruiting top game industry talent for the Baltimore-based studio.
The company’s first title, codenamed Mars, will run on Oxide Game recently announced Nitrous engine.
"Mohawk puts gameplay first," Johnson said in the press release. "Our goal is to make games that will be played for years, based on elegant, replayable systems that are not limited by finite content creation. Our development process emphasizes rapid iteration above all else, requiring our games to be playable as soon as possible so that we have time to find the fun."
