Modern Skirts call it a night in Atlanta with help from the Party Dolls

This Saturday night the place to be is Smiths Olde Bar as an era in Georgia music comes to a close. Athens’ favorite purveyors of music the Modern Skirts are calling it a career and this weekend will be their final show in Atlanta. Their music cannot be confined to a simple genre because they have always done their own thing which is what made their music so fresh and original. With each album it was never certain what you were going to get, but you knew it was going to be damn good. Driven by vocal harmonies their music could be mellow and sad or they could kick it up and rock. Live is where they are at home. Their wide open high energy shows have been packing music venues of all sizes for years and people know they are going to be entertained. Saturday night should be one hell of a show as they treat the good folks of Atlanta one last time to their myriad of killer music.

Sharing this eventful evening is fellow Athens band the Party Dolls. Consisting of members from the District Attorneys, Crooked Fingers, The Breaks, Ruby the Rabbitfoot & Tedo Stone, it sounds like a good combination to me. The band began on the fly, playing their first show in February with limited practice, and pulled off a damn fine set of tunes in Athens. Their music is loaded with pop/rock hooks and catchy lyrics which will have people humming along and with the success of their live performances maybe, just maybe it will lead to an album.

I would say the smart move would be to make your way to Smiths Olde Bar this Saturday for a night of killer rock music. Grab a cold beer then sit back and let your ears absorb the sweet tunes of the Modern Skirts and the Party Dolls. Be a part of musical history as the Modern Skirts ride off into the sunset and support local venues & music. Like always, if you see me around say howdy.
