Oh, for modern technology. Now, when you get stuck in the elevator, not only do you have the emergency button to hit, you have your cell phone. And, if you're the stars of "Modern Family," The heck with that: you can joke about it on Twitter, as they did on Saturday. For once, Twitter oversharing was OK.
Sadly, the FUBAR didn't include Twitter's "Modern Family" tweeter of choice: Sofia Vergara. It did include Emmy-winner Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Emmy-winner Eric Stonestreet, who found themselves trapped in an elevator, probably repeating -- in real-life -- something covered in a sitcom more than once.
The three of them were on their way to a charity event for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. However, their crowded service elevator at the Sheraton Hotel jammed on the third floor.
Bowen was less effusive than her co-stars. She only tweeted once, after the ordeal was over. She posted:
after a quick hour trapped in the service elevator, we were rescued by Duke and the Fire dept. here's a photo from ... http://say.ly/iAj5hw3
Meanwhile, Jesse Tyler Ferguson apparently couldn't make up his mind how long they were stuck, tweeting (in succession):
This is us right now. 45 mins stuck in this elevator. pic.twitter.com/5WGyVWDAVf
Stuck in an elevator for 35 mins. http://vine.co/v/bXIU2v1FeDK
Finally made it out of the stuck elevator at the one hour mark. At least the firemen in K.C. are cute. http://yfrog.us/b8ddxoxjmewrgbxqqbydysxwz ...
The rescue, and cute firemen, can be seen in the embedded video.
Eric Stonestreet, meanwhile, provided the image above (his mother, by the way, is in blue). His tweets:
@jessetyler: Just landed in Kansas City. Alright @ericstonestreet show me a good time!” How's getting stuck in an elevator sound beebee?
@DannyZuker: @jessetyler @ericstonestreet How many people have said, "This would make a great episode!"” Just 2
I honestly handled being stuck in an elevator for 50min better than I thought. All @jessetyler did was pass wind. Th… http://say.ly/IAF5hvY
It wasn't all bad. In addition to Jesse Tyler Ferguson meeting some good-looking firemen and the charity appearance, all of them visited Stonestreet's boyhood home while in Kansas City. Of course, Stonestreet also treated them to a snowball.
