'Modern Family' stars backstage at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards

The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sept. 23, 2012, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Here is what these Emmy winners said backstage in the Emmy Awards press room.

How did you feel about having your speech cut off at the end?

Steven Levitan (executive producer): I tend to be long-winded, so I got what I deserved. It’s fine. I didn’t know.

How are you going to celebrate your Emmy win?

Eric Stonestreet (co-star): We’re going to be with each other and have a good time and celebrate our wonderful jobs and our lives, because we eventually know that it will not be this way and you will hate us all.

Sofia, this is the third year in a row that “Modern Family” has won this Emmy Award. How does it feel and what does it mean to you and the rest of the cast?

Sofia Vergara (co-star): It’s unbelievable. When I hear our name, I can’t believe we’re living this dream in this country. And to be able to have a show like this and my work to be playing with these people and playing my character. For me, it’s a dream. Even though Julie [Bowen] keeps winning all my awards, I am still very happy, and I’ll still keep coming.

Who designed your dress?

Vergara: It was Zuhair [Murad]. And I love it because it’s very sexy.

Did you know when you first signed on to “Modern Family” that it would be winning so many Emmys?

Danny Zuker (writer): No, of course not. We like the show. For all of us, we were so relieved to have a job. For me, I forgot that you could have a job and be really, really proud of it. And we’re just happy about that. This is all serendipitous.

Steve, what is it like to work with the team at Twentieth Television?

Levitan: They’re wonderful partners. They’ve been incredibly supportive of the show from the very beginning and of me for a long, long time. And they’re good friends. They take very good care of us. And we have a nice partnership, and we look forward to many years to come.
