"Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson will be busy with wedding plans! In a report by US Weekly on Saturday, Feguson and fiancé Justin Mikita have revealed wedding details and are planning to marry in New York this summer.
Ferguson, who proposed to Mikita in July, admits that planning the nuptials have been "a little stressful" told US Weekly about the reasoning behind choosing New York for the location.
"We wanted to get married in New York, because that's where it's legal, so we want to support the state that's in support of us."
He also gave a little detail about the ceremony and bash, describing the location as a "beautiful loft space" with a guest list over around 200 friends and family. Ferguson also said they will be knocking out one main wedding tradition and not partaking in a wedding party.
Ferguson recently joined in on efforts to legalize same sex marriage in the state of Illinois. Back in January, the TV star appeared at a news conference with LT. Gov. Sheila Simon voicing his support for marriage equality.
Ferguson said:
"I think there's a lot of people who aren't comfortable with marriage equality. So they get to turn on the TV and see a show that has a lot of different families in it, and one of those families just happens to be gay, and they're realizing that they're having a great time watching the show and watching a gay couple that's having a lot of the same problems and issues."
Both Ferguson and Mikita hope their nuptials will eventually be considered official everything in the United States. As activists and founders of the Tie The Knot Foundation, they are playing their part in making sure that happens.
Congratulations to Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita.
