The hit ABC series 'Modern Family' returns for its third season with a special one hour event on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET), according to a September 2, 2011, press announcement from ABC. The special hour includes two back-to-back episodes that take viewers to the open range and back to the ol' home front.

"Modern Family" is the Emmy winning comedy that stars Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sof’a Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson Eric Stonestreet as Cameron, Sarah Hyland, Nolan Gould, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons.
'Dude Ranch' is the first episode of the evening. The family decides to don their cow boots and hats and head to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for an outdoor adventure. The vacation at Lost Creek Ranch, where they try their hand at cattle herding, skeet shooting and horseback riding. Big firsts include a huge surprise and a faceoff between Jay (Ed O'Neil) and a foe, a cowboy named Hank (Tim Blake Nelson).
In "When Good Kids Go Bad" (9:30-10:00 p.m.), Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) plan a nice evening with the whole family to break the happy news that they're looking to adopt another child. However their parade is rained on when they realize Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) may not take well to another baby in the house. Meanwhile, Claire (Julie Bowen) and Jay are each consumed with proving a certain point.
