Modelmanagement.com is a social network that brings models, agencies, and photographers together. As a matter of fact, it proclaims itself to be “The fastest growing modeling community in the world!” and brags that the community consists of 76,801 models, 3,697 agencies, 13,312 photographers, and 23,406 other members. As the modeling community niche is so limited modelmanagement.com is a solid choice. I will talk about this briefly, but the main focus of this article will be the six tips “every model should know”.
Joining this network is a solid choice for any aspiring model or photographer, because the choices of modeling social networks are still so limited. This is true in spite of the fact that in the world of social networks there is a strong movement towards niche networks. What this means is that it is becoming increasingly popular for social networks, or communities if you would rather think of them this way, to target specific niches (small communities made up of individuals that all share something in common, like being part of the same industry).
Modeling agencies that are looking for new faces should also consider joining this up-and-coming network, which is a good place to explore if you are new to modeling. In this light, modelmanagement.com shares six tips “every model should know”. The first tip is that modeling “is a business, and as a model, you are your own business!” This tip goes on say becoming a successful model is not instantaneous and requires “time, effort, commitment, and patience”. The second tip is about “Present[ing] yourself as the perfect candidate” for any modeling job. This tip prescribes “confidence…a good attitude and [most importantly] a friendly personality.” While you should “Show your personal style…[you should still] keep it clean and simple and always make a good first impression.”
The third and fourth tips are about taking care of yourself and maintaining “a healthy lifestyle”. These two tips prescribe “drink[ing] a lot of water, hold[ing] on to a healthy diet [and] work-out [regimen], get[ing] sufficient sleep…avoid[ing] cigarettes and alcohol…use[ing] skin & hair care products, keep[ing] make-up at a minimum, take[ing] off your make-up every night[,] and go[ing] for a regular” haircut. The fifth tip is simple: apply and interview as much as possible. But, in order to seize every opportunity you really need to head the sixth tip and get agency representation.
