Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" is one of the best titles in the Zelda series for the Nintendo 64 console. The game was released in 2000 and received critical acclaim from all over the world. On March 18, 13 years later, a pair of modders have created a brand new texture pack for the game which exclusively features actor Nicolas Cage.
The texture pack supposedly took "months" to finish according to Criken and Shane, the modders who created the texture pack. In the description for the youtube video, Criken stated that him and Shane lost a lot of free time once development started. "After months of uncomfortable work, the Nicolas Cage texture pack for Majora's Mask is finally finished. Why make this you may ask? I wish I had an answer for you. The truth is co-modder Shayne and I lost the luxury of free will as soon as we began working on this project. We had no goal, only Cage." stated Criken in the description.
The texture pack is still a rough draft and there isn't an easily downloadable version available, but the modders are working hard to make a playable version available to the public. In the texture pack, the video shows that your shield, enemies and even yourself feature Nicolas Cage's face. Each mask in the game has been replaced with his face as well as pictures. If you are able to look up into the sky, even the sun has been replaced with his face. The truth is that this seems like a simple "copy and paste" job, but it was a very time-consuming job.
The modders pasted Nicolas Cage onto thousands of textures in the game. This alone would easily take a few weeks or months. With every character having his face, you can tell that they weren't trying to cut any corners when creating the texture pack. Most modders create "HD" texture packs for old N64 games, but this team has decided to do something entirely different.
It's unknown when the texture pack will be available as a download, but Criken will keep everyone updated via Twitter.
