'Mockingjay' wins big in Goodreads awards

Mockingjay, the third and final book in Suzanne Collins' best-selling Hunger Games trilogy, has won multiple honors in the 2010 Goodreads Choice Awards.

Readers on the social networking site for literary fans voted on the awards and gave Mockingjay top honors in the following categories:

  • Favorite Book of 2010
  • Best Young Adult Fantasy
  • Favorite Heroine - Katniss
  • Favorite Hero - Peeta

An interesting note in the last category is that Mockingjay was actually competing against itself, with both Peeta and Gale nominated for "Favorite Hero." Peeta was the clear winner, with 2,699 votes. Gale was the third choice in that category, with only 841 votes.

In all, more than 157,000 votes were cast in this year's Goodreads Choice Awards.
