The Missouri Child Identification Program will be holding an event at Pathways United Methodist Church, 1232 E. Dale in Springfield. Boy Scout Troop 494 is the official Sponsor. MoCHIP takes fingerprints, photographs, dental impressions and other vital data producing a packet that parents take with them. If the child should go missing, this packet is invaluable to the police or other authorities in issuing an Amber Alert.
The Masonic Children’s Foundation sponsors these events. At least six children have been located thanks to this program. No information is kept by anyone involved in the collection proceedure. All information collected is returned to the parent or guardian in the child’s sealed packet.
It runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, the 14th. Bring your children, grandchildren or any children that are in your care. Hopefully, it will never be needed, but you should always be prepared. Ask any boy scout.
Another opportunity on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. is the monthly meeting of the Ozarks Chapter of American Christian Writers at the University Heights Baptist Church, 1010 S. National. What writer can resist “Seven Lightning Topics”? In this activity, lead by OCACW president, Jeanetta Chrystie, will give out starter phrases that each writer will have 45 minutes to complete a project in any genre. Volunteers will then share their works.
On Sunday the 15th Faith Assembly of God Church will be welcoming Rev. Mario A. Gonsalez as their new pastor. Pastor Gonsalez, his wife Bretta and their two children have moved from Muldrow, OK where he was associate pastor at the First Assembly of God Church.
Rev. Jamie S. Smith has been serving the church as Interim Pastor. Rev. Gonsalez will join Faith Assembly’s other staff, Travis Schroeder, Youth Pastor and Rev. Majetta Morris, Children's Pastor. Join them beginning at 10:30 a.m.
