What could possibly be one of Mobile's better kept secrets is that it's home to many talented local artists and hosts many stars on the rise every week at one of several packed house venues. Where else could a you sit down to a pint of ale and a reuben while listening to the musical magic of bands such as El Cantador and Phil Proctor than in Mobile's own Oakleigh Garden District at everyone's favorite Irish social club Callaghan's? Or watching an amazing sunset over Mobile Bay at Blue Gill while enjoying the likes of Wes Loper?

Although Mobile is a coastal town with a busy port and access to musical influences from around the world, we have managed to hold on to much of our own style of southern rock and blues. This makes Mobile a little different than many cities on the coast which become more of a melting pot of styles. In this global age where many cultures become lost in the deluge of outside influences, thankfully Mobile holds on tight to tradition.

So as we struggle with the urge to selfishly keep these bands to ourselves, we know that the rest of the world deserves the chance to share in the delight that they bring. Certainly with El Cantador's latest foray into the world of iTunes with their single "Glean" and two self released albums Orange and The Ground our secret will soon be revealed - enjoy them while you can.
