Mobile fire department to receive $ 1.9 million in federal grant money

The city of Mobile has been granted federal grant money in the near future. This grant money is awarded by the 2009 American recovery act that our current president signed.

The actual amount is around $ 1,952,763.00. The name of this federal act is called American recovery and reinvestment act. This federal grant money is to be used to for the construction of a new fire station in the Theodore area. This Theodore was recently annexed into the city limits and was promised a fire station if they would vote to be annexed into the city.

Another fire station is already being built as part of a prior annexation in the west mobile area on Airport Boulevard and is scheduled to be complete by July 2010. The Mayor has commended the Mobile fire rescue department for helping ensure this grant was successful. The fire chief also gave his staff credit for their part in the hard work that was done in seeing this grant come to pass.
President Obama signed this act into law February 19 for what he thought would help the economy and create jobs.

The ARRA program for new fire station construction and grants came to a total of $ 165,688,982.00. To see complete details of what was granted to the city of Mobile fire department click on the link below.
