MNet America's first annual Asian Pop Awards (Photos)

My photographer Chelle Stipe and I were invited to participate in the Red Carpet ceremonies for their client MNet America's first annual Asian Pop Awards and pre-Grammy party, celebrating this year's breakthrough for K-Pop artists and the Asian entertainment industry as well. Considering the impact Psy has had on this year's music scene, it appears that the time has come for greater acceptance of the entire K-Pop music community.

The event was held on Thursday, February 7 at the beautiful EastWest Studio on Sunset Boulevard. The event was co-sponsored by Verizon Wireless and Ketel One Vodka as a benefit for CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment).

Awards were handed out to Ailee (Rising Star Award), David Choi (Digital Trend Setter Award) and Toyota (Asian Pop Brand of the Year Award). Connie Lim (The Voice), Sonia Rao (The Voice) and Blush also performed during the event.

Among the many celebrities walking the red carpet, I enjoyed talking to host Leo Nam (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), Amy Hill (That's So Raven), the ladies of Blush, and a couple of walk-ons - American Idol (Season 6) star Jheri Walker, Jr. (who just happens to be the son of Al B Sure) and Zach Sale (Tyler Perry's Temptation, Burn Notice).

Check out the slideshow for great pics from the night's red carpet event.
