MN State Arts Board announces Artist Initiative grantees

Grantees of the Minnesota State Arts Board 2014 Artist Initiative program in visual art, photography and media arts were announced earlier this afternoon. Nearly 100 grants ranging from $4,675 to $10,000 were made to individual artists artists from across the state, totaling $939,845. Awards were chosen out of approximately 450 eligible proposals.

Artist Initiative grants fund professional artists at any stage of their career. Grants support artistic development, nurture artistic creativity, and recognize the contribution individual artists make to the creative environment in the state of Minnesota. Grants in the disciplines of music, dance, theater, poetry and prose were announced November 6, 2013.

Deadline to submit applications for the 2015 Artist Initiative program are July 11, 2014 for performing arts/literature and August 1, 2014 for visual arts.

Other upcoming funding opportunities for individual artists in the Twin Cities area include Forecast Public Art (January 31) and MRAC Next Step Fund (March 3).
