MMORPG Marketing VP Jerome Lalin joins Wizards of the Coast

Wizards of the Coast has announced that Jerome Lalin, former Vice President of Marketing at Turbine, Inc. (Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online) will be joining Wizards of the Coast as the new Vice President of Marketing.

Anyone familiar with online games has seen the successful implementation of free-to-play (F2P) titles emerge from the ashes of the older, subscription based models, and marketing gurus like Lalin were on the forefront of this gaming industry shift.

Both DDO and LOTRO have survived a competitive online gaming market, enjoying tightly-woven communities at a time where a new cash shop, buy-your-way-to-victory MMORPG is announced every week.

This pairing of Lalin and Wizards of the Coast should be an exciting and possibly explosive mix.

From the press release today:

“Wizards has achieved many milestones over the last year and is enjoying tremendous momentum right now,” says Greg Leeds, President of Wizards of the Coast. “This is the perfect time for Jerome to add his experience and expertise to our leadership team as we continue to move the organization to the next level of performance.”

Jerome should provide some spicy accents to the current gaming feast that Wizards of the Coast has been serving up as of late. And maybe we won't have to ever see something like "HERE I RULE" again.
