Woo-hoo! This is the greatest day of my life! Homer Simpson would love it: a camera that looks like a donut. Well, that decidedly unusual idea has become reality as a camera looking just like a tasty, fried pastry has hit the market. Yes, this is for real.
So, what of the camera?
For starters, no one will be buying the camera for its specifications as it only has a 3Mp sensor (impressive a decade ago) and can only do 640 x 480 video, tiny compared to the full 1080p HD movie modes that come standard on today's cameras.
On the other hand, when it comes to the design, there's no doubt that this camera is cool, no, sweet.
For starters, the camera, according to those who have actually handled it, actually feels somewhat like a donut thanks to the construction based on a spongy plastic. Fortunately, the manufacturer decided to leave out the crumbs and settle for plastic frosting. As for controls, they're well-concealed and yet very functional. In fact, the only thing keeping this from looking like a real donut at a distance is the window optical viewfinder.
Looking to buy a donut camera in the Cleveland area? Well, forget it, Cleveland-based Dodd Camera, with its downtown superstore and many smaller Cleveland metro area chain stores in the Cuyahoga County area doesn't stock this one, you'll have to buy online.
