According to a Jan. 23 report from Babes of MMA, Rachel Wray is set to fight Katelyn Radtka on Jan. 25 at at the Voodoo Lounge at Harrah's Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.
Wray and Radtka discussed their upcoming battle in this OneStopFightShop YouTube video. MMA fans can purchase tickets for their upcoming brawl on Ticketmaster.com.
Wray and Radtka are both well-rounded mixed martial artists, with elite striking and wrestling skills. Their fight will be held in the Ultimate Blue Corner Battles promotion.
Wray was born and raised in Springdale, Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. in Political Science, and she is also a former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader.
Wray retired from cheerleading after one season with the Chiefs, and she now focuses on training in MMA.
Wray said she was drawn into MMA just to get a more interesting workout besides boring treadmill and elliptical routines.
"I started working out at Title Boxing Club with some of the girls for an alternative workout," Wray said. "I really enjoyed it and started taking private lessons after a little while. One day, I came in and they wanted me to spar. I was nervous about someone actually punching me in the face, but I did it.”
Things didn’t get off to a smooth start inside the ring, but she didn’t quit — she fought back even harder.
“I was absolutely horrible,” she added. “This drove me to want it even more. I knew I had to make a choice between fighting and cheerleading. I chose fighting.”
