Today, MLS opened up fan voting for the 2014 MLS All-Star Game, so soccer aficionados can choose who plays with the star-studded cast versus Bayern Munich on August 6. Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter, who was voted 2013 MLS Coach of the Year, will manage the 2014 All-Star squad's performance at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon.
Ultimately, Porter will choose the game day roster from the 32 winners.
Fans can vote online through July 11 at 3 p.m. ET and via Twitter from July 2-6. Eleven players – one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards – with the highest combined votes will be named to the All-Star Fan XI.
The 11th player will be determined by fans scoring goals in EA SPORTS FIFA 14 on the Xbox One, PlayStation4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. The forward with the most votes – one goal equals one vote – will win the final forward spot on the All-Star Fan XI.
The Commissioner selections and game day roster will be announced on July 19 or 21.
The final list of 32 All-Stars (4 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 13 midfielders and 7 forwards) will be announced on August 6.
