The MLB World Series 2013 live stream and televised Game 1 arrives Wednesday night, with the two best teams in their respective leagues set to compete. The first game takes place at Fenway Park in Boston, with John Lester on the mound for the home team, and Adam Wainright countering for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals vs. Red Sox TV and live stream coverage gets started just after 8 p.m. EST, with FOX and the MLB website providing coverage.
An ESPN report from Oct. 23 indicates there's good news for Red Sox fans in the series, as pitcher Clay Buchholz has been added to the 25-man roster for the World Series. However, Buchholz was not named as the Game 3 started for the Red Sox by manager John Farrell. Farrell said of his struggling posteason pitcher:
"We're still working on which day each guy will go. And I know there's been a lot of buzz on Clay's physical condition -- you know, where is he at, what's taken place the last couple of starts. He's ready to go. He will start."
Clay has made three postseason starts, but had a 5.40 ERA overall. He was forced to miss three months during the regular season due to neck problems, and made four starts for the team in September. Farrell noted that Buchholz is healthy enough to go and ready to start, so likely he'll be pitching over the weekend in St. Louis.
As for tonight's game, the starters are known with Adam Wainright coming off a loss in his last outing against the Dodgers, and Lester coming in with a win back on Oct. 17 against Detroit. Over 5.1 innings pitched, Lester had 2 earned runs, while Wainright pitched 7 innings and also had 2 earned runs in his game.
According to ESPN.com, St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny talked to the media about his feelings involving the nostalgia of Fenway Park and playing there, saying, "Some of us have some pretty bad memories of being here in 2004, and we're looking to kind of right that ship." Matheny was referring to the 4-0 sweep handed to the Cardinals by the Red Sox back then.
Current St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina summed up some of his own and his teammates' feelings about playing at Fenway, telling the media:
"It's fun to be part of this history, to be here in Fenway Park, to be part of this Series against Boston.
It's different to play here overall. Playing defense, offense, pitching. It's different, but at the same time it's fun."
Tonight's Game 1 of the 2013 MLB World Series will start at 8:07 p.m. EST at Fenway. The game between the Cardinals and the Red Sox will be televised on FOX in standard and hi-definition. The World Series live stream online presentation comes from MLB Postseason TV, but only for international viewers. United States and Canadian fans won't be able to see live streaming coverage.
