The wife of baseball player, Mariners’ Carlos Peguero has been arrested for wire fraud while using Felix Hernandez’s wife’s debit card. She used the debit card for upwards of $180,000 in online purchases, according to “Fox and Friends” live on Monday morning Oct. 21.
According to CBS News, Maria Jacqueline Peguero pleaded not guilty to a charge that carries a possible penalty of up to 20 years behind bars, three counts of wire fraud. She is free on bail today.
Maria Peguero is accused of using Sandra Hernandez’s debit card to have approximately $180,000 in Saks Fifth Avenue delivered to her apartment between June and October of 2012. Peguero made over 60 transactions with the debit card of Sandra Hernandez.
Carlos Peguero, 26, came to the Mariners from out of the Dominican Republic in 2005. In the past three seasons he has only played in 65 games. Maria Peguero, his wife is the daughter of Pedro Borbon, the former major-league pitcher.
How could this woman think she could get away with this? What an embarrassing spot she has put her husband in. When people steal to put food on the table for their family, however wrong, you still have a bit of sympathy for them. But to steal to adorn yourself with Sax Fifth Avenue items, many would say she deserves what she gets if she did in fact due the crime she’s accused of.
