There's MLB playoffs 2013 live stream and TV games on the schedule all day Friday for baseball enthusiasts. Both of the ALDS and both of the NLDS matchups will feature games on the card, including Game 2 between the NL's Pirates and Cardinals. St. Louis dominated Game 1 to take a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-5, so now Pittsburgh has their work cut out for them to try to even things up. The latest action will be among the televised and MLB live online playoffs games from TBS and MLB website.
According to ESPN.com on Oct. 4, today's starting pitchers will be Gerrit Cole for the Pirates and Lance Lynn for the Cardinals. Pittsburgh is hoping Cole continues to display the brilliant he did in his last four regular season starts, posting an ERA of just 1.38 over those wins. He was 4-2 this past season with a 2.38 ERA in his seven road games. However, today he will face a tough lineup and a team that is on a roll, having won seven straight games.
Cole said of today's challenge:
"I know that -- facing (Matt) Carpenter, Beltran, (Yadier) Molina, (Matt) Holliday, Freese, (Jon) Jay -- they're just great hitters. Whether you've seen them a bunch of times or not, you know what they're capable of doing. You know in a playoff atmosphere anything can happen."
That lineup rocked the Pirates for 10 hits in Game 1, en route to a 9-1 victory. Carlos Beltran hit his first home run of the postseason of A.J. Burnett in the third inning, while going 3-5. Matt Holliday, David Freese and Matt Adams each picked up two hits, with Freese also adding two of the teams RBI's. Meanwhile, third baseman Pedro Alvarez was the sole RBI-producer for the Pirates, with a fifth inning solo homerun off Adam Wainright. The Pirates will clearly need much better pitching or run production if they stand a chance of staying in this NLDS series.
Post-game, Pirates manager Clint Hurdle told the media:
"Game 164 was rough. That's one of the things we've been real good at is we don't overcook things. We knew coming in we had to find a way to win a game here. ... We're down one game in the series, and we'll move on."
The Cardinals once again get the home field advantage in Game 2, with the game to take place at Busch Stadium under clear skies and a high temp of 69 degrees in St. Louis. The odds makers believe in their Game 2 chances to win, making them favorites at as much as -140 today, compared to +123 in many books for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The over/under is set at 7 runs combined between the two teams.
Today's Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals Game 2 has an early afternoon start time of 1:07 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on cable or satellite providers through TBS. In addition, fans can pick up the MLB Postseason TV subscription service here, which allows for an alternate angle live stream online companion. The live online coverage will be different from what is shown on TV but still provides camera feeds from the games along with other features.
