The MLB playoffs 2013 live stream and television schedule reveals the start of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) on Friday, Oct. 11. The Cardinals will host the Dodgers in the first few games, with LA's former Cy Young winning pitchers taking the mound against some younger pitchers for the Cards. The Dodgers vs. Cardinals will be televised, and will be the last live stream MLB playoff series for fans before the World Series.
According to ESPN.com on Oct. 11, tonight's starting pitchers will be former AL Cy Young winner Zack Greinke for the Dodgers, and newcomer Joe Kelly for the Cards. Kelly was a "replacement starter" who was added to the fifth starting spot of the rotation for St. Louis and barely has stats for the 2013 season. Greinke went 15-4 this past season with a 2.63 ERA and 148 strikeouts. His last game pitched was a 4-3 loss to the Braves back on October 4, so he's had a good week's worth of rest heading into this game. Kelly pitched a no decision in the Cardinals' 5-3 loss to the Pirates on October 6th, but he'll be in front of the hometown fans for tonight's Game 1.
This past season, St. Louis had the best record in the National League at 97-65, with the Dodgers starting the season off slow and ending up on a tear as they started to gel. Los Angeles finished at 92-70 overall and made what some believe was quick work of the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers are currently tied in terms of odds to win the 2013 World Series with the American League's Boston Red Sox.
For injuries heading into this series, both Andre Either and Matt Kemp are day-to-day at the Dodgers' centerfield position. First baseman Allen Craig of the Cards shares the same status. Otherwise, there are no notable injuries to report. Don Mattingly was asked by the media if Either might be able to start for the game, but he sounded doubtful about it, saying:
"Honestly, for me, it didn't look that great out in center field. This is the playoffs and you've got to be able to play 100 percent or pretty much full speed."
Odds makers have the home team Cardinals as the underdogs in this first game, most likely due to the caliber of pitcher on the mound for Los Angeles. Lines range from about +105 to +113 at various sports books for St. Louis, with the range between -115 and -131 for the Dodgers. The over/under bet is set at 7 combined runs for the game by most sports books, as of this report. Weather is expected to be mostly fair, with wind blowing out towards left field at 4 to 9 miles per hour. Game time temp is expected to be in the mid 70's.
Tonight's Dodgers vs. Cardinals Game 1 has a start time scheduled for 8:37 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The game, set to be played at Busch Stadium, will be televised in standard and hi-definition via TBS. In addition, there is the option for U.S. and Canadian fans to watch the game live streaming online. The entire NLCS will be offered live online with alternate angle companion viewing through the MLB Postseason TV service found here. International viewers will be able to see each of the games live or on demand, as well as games from the ALCS and World Series.
