The MLB playoffs 2013 live stream and TV games begin on Tuesday, Oct. 1 as one of the two wildcard playoff games will take place. In this game, the National League opponent for the St. Louis Cardinals will be decided, as the Cincinnati Reds play at the Pittsburgh Pirates. The first game of the playoff schedule will be televised thanks to TBS, with live stream online coverage thanks to MLB's special subscription service.
According to an SI.com report from Oct. 1, the Reds will send Johnny Cueto to the mound with his 5-2 record and 2.82 ERA on Tuesday night. On the other side will be the 16-8 Francisco Liriano who carries an ERA of 3.02 this season. Pittsburgh just recently swept the Reds in their final three games of the season, and outscored Cincinnati by 16-6 in those games, leaving many to believe the Pirates will advance on to play St. Louis in a few days from now.
While it looks that way, it should be noted that these two teams were tied at 8 games each in their past sixteen meetings. Cincinnati is no slouch in terms of offense, and had actually outscored the Pirates 65-57 over the course of those previous sixteen meetings. Johnny Cueto has also been brilliant during his career decisions against the Pirates, going 13-4 in 21 career starts, with an ERA of 2.37. At the Pirates' ballpark, Cueto has an ERA of 1.90 and a record of 8-2.
However, some believe Pittsburgh has the momentum, along with home field advantage tonight. With just one win, they can officially enter the first round of the MLB playoffs. Their manager since 2010, Clint Hurdle, said of his team that he wants them to win a sixth World Series. According to ESPN, Hurdle told the media:
"I think we're a perfect snapshot of our city. We're not perfect. We get down, we're going to get up. We get knocked down again, we're going to get up again.
We'll continue to fight for what we believe in."
The Pirates come into this home game as the slight favorite over the Reds. The Vegas Insider current consensus is a line of -136 for the Bucs and +126 for the underdog Reds. The consensus over/under for the combined runs is set at 6 1/2 runs. Weather reports indicate a partly cloudy forecast at PNC Park in Pittsburgh with temperatures in the low 70's.
Tuesday night's wild card matchup featuring the Reds vs. Pirates has a start time of 8:07 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The game will be televised on cable or satellite services via TBS. In addition, there is the special MLB Postseason.TV subscription service available. This subscription package available for Canadian and U.S. residents will allow baseball fans an "alternate angle" viewing experience of tonight's game, live streaming online.
