The MLB playoffs 2013 live stream online and TV action brings Game 5 of the ALCS schedule to the spotlight on Thursday night in a busy night for sports. As of right now, Boston and Detroit are all tied up at two games each, with the winner tonight taking back control of the series. The latest MLB playoff game will be live for specific fans online and for all television viewers with TBS.
According to USA Today in an Oct. 17 report, Anibal Sanchez will take the mound for the Tigers tonight, while John Lester counters for the Red Sox. The two pitchers were on opposite sides of a 1-0 Game 1, in which Sanchez had a no-hitter through six innings. That included striking out 12 Red Sox batters before manager Jim Leyland made the call to pull out Sanchez.
Sanchez said of his stellar performance in Game 1:
"I think my pitches were moving really good that day. They didn't swing and the balls were going down and out (of the strike zone). When I was ahead, it helped me to strike guys out. I think that was the key, getting ahead in the count. That helped me that day. That's what I want to do in this game."
While Sanchez was brilliant in that opening game win for the Tigers, John Lester performed well for the Red Sox, holding the Tigers to just one run and six hits. He had six strikeouts as well, but unfortunately, that one run was the difference-maker in a tight contest. However, Lester has been 7-2 with a 2.57 ERA in his 13 starts since the All-Star break, which improved upon the stats he had for his first 20 starts of the 2013 season. Nonetheless, one of these two pitchers may be the difference-maker again tonight in limiting their opponents.
However, odds makers believe that the advantage goes to the home team, Detroit. The Tigers carry odds of about -115 at many sports books, while the Red Sox are priced around +105 at various books. The over/under is once again set at 7 runs, which has been consistent with the low-scoring games this series has seen. For tonight's weather, forecasts indicate a 60% chance of early rain, with a game temperature in the low 50's. The wind will blow out to left field at 10 to 15 miles per hour.
Tonight's Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers ALCS Game 5 is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. TBS will show the game in hi-definition telecast for cable or satellite TV viewers. International viewers can subscribe to the MLB Postseason TV service over at the MLB website and watch tonight's game live streaming online. Unfortunately, the service is not available to U.S. viewers. See more details here at MLB.com.
