'MLB 2K13' confirmed following licensing agreement with Major League Baseball

The fate of the "MLB 2K" series was unknown following a Take Two financial report last year that did not list "MLB 2K13" as part of the publisher's line-up. However, the baseball franchise is returning to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as 2K Sports announced a deal Wednesday with Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, and Major League Baseball Advanced Media.

"MLB 2K13" will release on March 5, 2013 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 according to 2K Sports which means that "MLB 13: The Show" will not be the only baseball game in town. A release for the PC or Wii U was not announced and we are contacting 2K Sports for clarification.

Update: We contacted 2K Sports representatives about the status of "MLB 2K13" on the Wii U, PC and handhelds. We were told, "Unfortunately, at this stage we don’t have any other details to share beyond what’s in the press release."

Tampa Bays pitcher and American League Cy Young Award winner David Price has already been selected as the cover athlete for the baseball sim.

Also returning with "MLB 2K13" is the Perfect Game Challenge and the chance to win $1 million. Last year's version included 1 million attempts made and more than 1,000 perfect games registered according to 2K Sports but was marred by accusations of cheating. Complete details of this year's contest will be announced at a later date.
