With a chance to clinch the NL West, the Dodgers face the Diamondbacks in tonight's MLB 2013 schedule, for which live stream info (phone, tablet & desktop) and TV coverage is available online, according to a Sept. 18 MLB.com report.
But despite the importance of this game, (87-64) Los Angeles Dodgers skipper Don Mattingly has passed up on the opportunity to put his best pitcher on the mound to try and close things out.
MLB.com reports that "Donnie Baseball" will hand the ball over to RHP Stephen Fife (4-3, 3.38 ERA) to face the (76-74) Arizona Diamondbacks this evening, instead of his ace Clayton Kershaw (14-9, 1.94 ERA). Fife's last two appearances have been in relief.
"Relieving for me is a challenge," said Fife, who faces D-Backs RHP Brandon McCarthy (4-9, 4.58 ERA). "It's interesting having to get going in three or four minutes. I've tried to learn how. But basically, all I've ever done in my baseball life is start and I'm definitely more comfortable starting."
