On Sat., Oct. 5, 2013, Downriver's MJR Southgate Digital Theatre 20 will present the first of the family-friendly films featured in its Free Children’s Fall Film Festival. Children under 12 will be admitted free to Twentieth-Century Fox’s movie Epic. Adults can purchase tickets for $1. Show times for the performances at the MJR Southgate Digital Theatre 20 location are at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:20 p.m., 1:20 p.m., and 2:40 p.m. The showings will be repeated on Sun. Oct. 6 at the same times. The same program is offered at all MJR Theatres, but check with individual cinemas for exact show times.
The Free Children’s Fall Film Festival is an annual event at MJR Digital Cinemas, and the company sponsors a similar event in the spring. Tickets are not available for purchase before the day of the performance, and they will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis until the theatre reaches capacity. According to MJR management, about 380 people can come to each showing of the movie.
Showings often sell out, according to MJR management, so the only way to guarantee a seat is to go to the theater when its doors open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday or Sunday. Although tickets cannot be obtained before the day of the event, they can be purchased for later showings on that day—so moviegoers can buy tickets before 10 a.m. on Saturday for a 2:40 performance.
The Free Children’s Fall Film Festival continues at MJR Southgate Digital Theatre 20 next weekend, Oct. 12 and 13, with showings of The Croods, on Oct. 19 and 20 with showings of Turbo, and on Oct. 26 and 27 with showings of Despicable Me 2. Show times for the movies will be posted on the MJR Web site each Tuesday. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity with your family!
