In the new event named "The Masters Agility Championship at Westminster" Westminster is finally giving mixed breeds recognition in their 138th annual dog show this year. In the new agility event to honor the "sport of dogs" the Westminster Kennel Club celebrates the admiration for all dogs whether pure breed or mixed breed.

As the love for cross breeds grow in the public's eyes the Westminster Kennel Club has taken notice and is opening their pure breed segregated club up to integrating mixed breeds for the first time in its long history. With agility becoming known as an exciting canine sport, Westminster is now recognizing and adding their own agility event to its schedule for the first time this year. Adding the acceptance of mixed breeds to compete in the agility event is an additional first for the Westminster Kennel Club. The Masters Agility Championship at Westminster will be taking place during this year's show on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in New York City.

More firsts for the Westminster Kennel Club are the recognition of three new breeds.

To add to the excitement of the Westminster Kennel Club 138th Annual Dog Show is the recognition of three new breeds for 2014. A cute small hound, the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno known for its rabbit hunting capabilities, is a sweet little welcome addition for the Hound category. An American breed named Chinook, that is very intelligent and easily trainable, is a new member in the Working Dog group. The happy dog called Rat Terrier is 2014's new addition added to the category of Terrier.

This is a very exciting year for those competing in the Westminster Dog Show as well as those viewing the show. With the addition of new recognized breeds of dogs as well as the welcoming of mixed breeds entering to compete in the fun new agility event, there is much more added excitement in the air to the well known dog show.

Enjoy with a furry friend the watching of the show's celebration of dogs. Stay agile and never be afraid to dance.
