Lace is not a popular choice for bridesmaid dresses. In fact after attending a sinful amount of weddings, I can conclude the majority of people do not even consider lace for their bridesmaids. I honestly cannot remember ever seeing in person a bridesmaid wearing lace. It could be because lace is often worn by the bride, and people have it programmed in their minds that lace is more of a bridal fabric than anything else. The tricky thing about lace is how easily it can look dated, frumpy and just plain unattractive. It can also clash with other types of lace which is why brides who choose a lace gown or lace veil for themselves prefer to choose a totally different fabric for their bridesmaids. But there are always ways around this; the length, cut and style of the dress, as well as the pattern of the lace can really put a modern spin on it.
In their most recent collection, Mori Lee featured a few stylish bridesmaid dresses in all over lace, and a few other designers have also included lace fabrics in their bridesmaid collections. The great thing about lace is that unlike traditional bridesmaid dresses, it can easily be worn again because it can be dressed up or down depending on the choice of accessories.
