Mitt Romney is expected to win today's GOP caucus voting in Nevada, and is maintaining double digit leads over all other candidates in latest polls. Real Clear Politics polls ( through Feb 3 ) show Romney has a commanding lead with 50% of the vote while Newt Gingrich registered 25%, Ron Paul with 15%, and Rick Santorum had 8%.
Romney easily won last week's Florida primary and Gingrich has acknowledged a likely victory for Romney in today's caucus. Romney handily won Nevada in 2008 and is backed by a large Mormon contingency in the Silver state. Romney obtained a big boost for his campaign efforts on Thursday when celebrity business magnate Donald Trump endorsed his candidacy in Las Vegas. All candidates held campaign events in Las Vegas during the past week, but Romney has been the lead dog throughout the show.
The Gingrich campaign is in a tough fight after the Florida second place finish, the anticipated second place finish in Nevada, and the ensuing month's contests ( including Colorado and Minnesota ) that favor Romney.
Cheers...
