Mitsubish at the L.A. Auto Show

   Mitsubishi PX-MiEV Concept

Mitsubishi has been a quiet car company as of late, but the company did make some news last month in Los Angeles when it unveiled its Concept PX-MiEV.

This plug-in hybrid SUV uses a combination of gasoline and electric motors, and can run up to 30 miles on electric power alone. The batteries can be charged by a 100- or 200-volt household outlet, and the gasoline engine can either recharge the electric motor or drive the front wheels, as necessary.  The battery can give power back to the grid as the SUV recharges, says the company, and it can also be used to power household appliances or as a generator.

No production plans are in store as of yet.
