See one of Fort Worth’s finest classical guitarist, Mitch Weverka,  in concert in the intimate setting of Arts Fifth Avenue – you’ll see every movement of his fingers and hear each note played!

 After presenting his arrangement of J.S. Bach's first suite for violincello,  Mitch Weverka will perform  a program of famous Latin American guitar works. Composers include Heitor Villa-Lobos, Perambuco, Antonio Lauro, Leo Brouwer, Jorge Morel. Also, included in the program are compositions by Oscar Valdez, a Bolivian guitarist, artist, and author who moved to Fort Worth in the late 1970's

 MITCH WEVERKA as born in California but was raised in Fort Worth, He began playing the guitar at age 7, receiving most of his instruction from Bolivian guitarist/artist, Oscar Valdez. Mitch holds performance degrees from the Cleveland Institute of music (B.M.) and Southern Methodist University (Artist Certificate.) He also lived and studied in Italy where he received a diploma from the Academia Chitaristica al Teatro Cingio in Parma as well as a Diploma of Merit form Academia Chigiana in Siena.

 Mitch is the founder and Artistic/Executive Director of the Fort Worth Guitar Guild and currently coordinates the Guitar Guild Music Festival. He has enjoyed considerable success as an instructor and many of his students have won prized in numerous competitions. He maintains a private studio at Orchestra Hall on the Southside of Fort Worth and is the guitar instructor at Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts.
