BREAKING NEWS: Mega Millions California Lottery Winner Comes Out of Hiding $266 Million Dollars Richer
Rhode Islanders were glued to their TV's on Wednesday, April 21st, waiting for their lucky numbers to be picked. No one in Rhode Island got lucky, but Chris Shaw of Missouri sure did.
According to Associated Press, "Chris Shaw — a 29-year-old tattooed father of three who was raised by his grandparents in rural southern Missouri — came forward Thursday as the winner of the 10th-largest Powerball jackpot ever. Shaw said he had just $28.96 in his bank account and recently bought a 1998 Ford Ranger from a friend who agreed to let him pay off the $1,000 price $100 at a time. Now, he said, he no longer has to worry about how he'll pay his friend — or his utility bills."
PowerBall Decisions: Annuity or Cash?
At the time of winning the PowerBall lottery ticket, Chris Shaw was making $7.25 per hour at a local convenience store in rural Missouri. Shaw is undecided whether or not to take the jackpot in 30 payments over 29 years or the lump-sum amount of $124,875,122. The Break Time convenience store will also receive $50,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Dinsey World, Here We Come!
Shaw, the father of three small children, and a girlfriend with 2 children, says he'll now be able to take them all to Disney World in Florida. He says the kids are already bugging him for new skateboards and bicycles, and chances are he'll also be looking for a new set of teeth.

He trying to decide whether to take the whole thing of $128 Mill + or recieve 29 years of checks. Take the money, the whole freakin thing. 2 reasons: I wouldn't want someone else in control of my money and I would make the interest off of the Volume Amount. Secondly, I'm pretty sure if he die's the check stop coming. Next of Kin do not matter with the lottery.
You're an idiot the tax is much lower if you take it in yearly payments you'd get a lot more than the interest from putting it in the bank.
I KNOW A GOOD DENTIST !!!!
Joe Lyons - you are the idiot if you think you should put 124 million into a bank account. You do realize that you can invest in other things that could potentially bring a greater return, no?
8 million for 29 year would be the best way to go
huge
After 5-10 years he will come back to his $7.25 hour job with few hundred thousand dollars debt. PEOPLE DONT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY. If he decides to take 29 payments - first 15 years he will lose all money and learn how to handle them, next 15 years he will lose remaining money. If he decides to take on-time 125M sum - he will lose it within first 5 years. Believe me, he has no idea what money is. He knows NOTHING about investments, funds etc. Worstest thing - he decided to go public and show his face!!! From today he will receive hundreds and thousands messages from everyone - people, charities, churches, politicians, consultants, banks, funds and whoever else
Hundreds of SHARKS will start hunt on him from today.
I would never show my face/name to cameras.
THE ONLY DECISION FOR HIM:
- 29 Payments ONLY.
- Do not even try to invest
- Do not trust people/advices
- Rent a house in some quiet place, take your laptop, buy 50 books (financial, investments etc) and g
- Rent a house in some quiet place, take your laptop, buy 50 books (financial, investments etc) and get rest for one year, learn, learn, learn, learn, learn and learn
- FIND any old retired top manager, CEO, Investor (sponsor), who will teach you (read Robert Kiyosaki Reach Dad Poor Dad, )
=Chris only the lucky (probably unlucky!!!) guy who won the ticket to paradise or hell. If you read same stories, after few yeas those people become poorer, than the were before
Now everyone will try to draw his money CHRIS RUN AWAY, TAKE YOUR FAMILY AND RUN AWAY. Once again do not invest, do not even try, its not yours, you are reach now, but believe me its temporarily
IM SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH, ITS NOT MY FIRST OR SECOND LANGUAGE, NOT EVEN THIRD OR FOURTH.
I STARTED TO LEARN IT ONLY 2 YEARS AGO.
GOOD LUCK!
Wow! Congrats!
Am very glad that the winner is someone who really need it the money. God Bless him and his family
Take the 29 annual payments. This is a guaranteed income for the next 30 years. If you take the lump sum, you will go broke.
Look here, jerks.
I live in the same town as Chris and It is ungodly rude of your people to suggest he'll lose all of his money right away and so forth. You don't even know him. He wants to help his kids and his family. You pretentious, condescending fools probably have no idea what it is like to struggle. How dare you talk down to a stranger. YOU are what's wrong with this country. No one helps out anyone else anymore. Karma's a bitch, so look out.
Joe Lyons what do you mean the tax is lower if you take yearly payments? Whether you get $125 million now or $8+ million a year you are going to be in the same tax bracket (the highest) either way. And tax rates are going UP not DOWN in the future. Take the lump sum now while the max federal tax bracket is 35%. Soon it will be over 40%.
wow amazing story..finally someone who needs money, and not one with it comming out there azz..nice
Charles Barley was interviewing Lebron James when he was a high school senior and told him all he has to learn is to say"NO!"
Say it early and often.
not really a nice picture to post. New teeth, yes. Congrats to this guy for winning. I feel bad they are posting pictures of him without his teeth. Sort of trashy.
Take the lumpsum and invest with different companies, through me. Get the FIA for the opportunity to make more, the guarantees, bonuses, and guaranteed lifetime income. His monies are guaranteed not to lose because of market downturn, he has guaranteed lifetime income, and in case he dies, his beneficiaries will have the same opportunities and benefits he had. For Chris, my number is 847 421 3584.
Stan, you are SOOOOOOOOOOOO...... friggin' jealous! And ignorant too. You have to show your face to collect lottery winnings. The rules require it.
You do not have to show your face upon winning the lottery. It is only mandatory that the City and State become public. Your name and picture can be kept confidential and private.
If you think you are bound to laws that require your photo to be taken, with your name as the caption, I hope you never hit the lottery. Or better yet, if you believe that, let me be your financial adviser if you do it.... Dumby.
congrats to him. i am so glad to see someone who actually needs the money, win. i saw him on the news and he seems like a good, down to earth guy who won't let the money go to his head.
every one should leave him alone! he says he will get financial advice let him! this is a life changing event and he really does not need us for that, it already happened. BEST OF LUCK, MAY THE GRACE OF HOPE BE WITH YOU, lt
Take the Lump Sum and invest in an annuity. The interest payments will be sufficient to live every dream you could imagine and the principal will always be there. You could not pick a better time to win a large sum of money. You better learn to say NO quickly........ Hire good professionals that state their prices up front. Fire the bad ones.
Help us make a difference. I pray by the grace of God, almighty that one person that would and can help us with a dream I have been working hard with over the last year. God, placed on my heart last year to work hard and keep in prayer and by his Grace, he would reach someone to help me build a homeless hotel. I need a... star to help promote many donations and us. Please search your heart. My web site is Hislovestreetministries.com/ (God bless you richly) Reverend Trey Noran.
Chris, take it from another lottery winner, if you take the lump sum, have your end-of-the-year taxes figured NOW, then you'll know how much you can spend. I ended up having to pay a whopping sum in fed and state taxes, even after paying a whopping amount at cashout. You won't go broke if you handle your money well. Real estate is about the only safe investment right now. Buy a bunch of houses and have a reputable company manage the rent money for you. Easy money. Have fun, I am!!!
hey chris-you're only 29 years old - take the $8,000,000 yearly and have less stress. don't over spend, think twice before giving away your dollars - look out for the rip-offs!!!!
Hi Chris, I think you need some help in making decisions. I am someone who can help you. You can email me at erhappy71@yahoo.com. We can discuss from there. Right now you are no doubt being bombarded by so many people. Just step back and let one person guide you the right way, someone who doesn't want to exploit you. Good luck to you, sometimes that kind of money brings alot of headaches if you don't have someone you can trust. Money doesn't fix everything and can ultimately cause new problems. Take care, Nicole
HEY CHRIS CONGRAULATIONS ON YOUR WIN IF YOUR EVER IN ORLANDO FLA LOOK ME UP I LIVE 30 MILES FROM WALT DISNEY WORLD I KNOW A UP AND COMING SOUTHERN ROCK BAND THAT HAS BEEN COMPARED TO LYNARD SKYNARD BAND YOU COLD OPEN A RECORDING STUDIO AND PLENTY MORE MONEY THEIR ARE A LOT OF UP AND COMING BANDS HERE SO COME ON DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!
So why does he get 125 million, when the jackpot says he won 258 million?
Got something to say?
