Money well-spent? Apparently, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is taking full advantage of an airplane that was paid for by the Missouri Highway Patrol. According to Nixon, the plane was initially intended for use by law enforcement officers which makes sense considering the funds came from the Missouri Highway Patrol vehicle and aircraft budget. However, the Governor spared no expense and purchased a Beechcraft King Air 250 plane for $5.6 million dollars! But apparently, the governor has justified the costly purchase because in addition to law enforcement, the plane will be used by the governor and other state officials.
Some state representatives in Jefferson City are upset over the new plane believed to be a personal aircraft for the governor, who has already made use of the airplane. On Tuesday, some Republicans attempted to prevent the governor from using the plane but failed.
I fore one am quite upset that the governor would stoop to such a level. I have to wonder which state funded programs have been sacrificed by this luxurious purchase.
