The Missoni fashion show took place at Milan Fashion Week over the weekend. The show went on as usual, despite the recent tragedy of Vittorio Missoni. Hollywood.com reported on Jan. 14 that the family refused to cancel the event.
Missoni bosses originally called off the show, altogether. The family fought to keep the show going on Sunday. They planned to unveil their new fall/winter 2013 collections on the runway.
Angela, Vittorio's sister, stepped out on the runway at the end of the show. She gave a somber face as she bowed to the crowd. The audience gave her a standing ovation.
Angela released a statement about her decision to keep the fashion show going. She told the press:
"In this difficult moment for my family and our company, the firm must carry on its business... I can only say that searches will continue in all possible directions until we find them."
Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace acknowledged the family before her collections walked down the runway. Versace also expressed his thoughts to reporters, saying, "No one better than me can understand the pain and anguish that they are experiencing." The designer would understand since his brother, Gianni was murdered in 1997.
Vittorio Misson's plane was found missing on Jan. 4. The plane included four passengers and two pilots. Over 400 search and rescue crewmembers have been searching the Venezuelan area until they find the bodies.
