Mississippi Valley State and Hampton learned their regional matchups in the 2013 NCAA Division I softball championship Sunday.

The Devilettes (24-26) will travel back to Alabama to take on South Alabama (45-7) in Mobile May 17.

After a first-round loss in the SWAC tournament in Decatur, Alabama, MVSU ran the gamut, including back-to-back defeats of Prairie View A&M in the semifinals to get back to the title game.

Then, behind the bats of Nicole Burr, Yasmin Battle and Brittany Lilly and the pitching of Kimberly Spivey, Mississippi Valley stopped Alabama State, 11-3 to defend their title.

The Lady Pirates of Hampton travel to Gainesville to face host Florida (52-7) on Friday.

The Lady Pirates (33-24) split a doubleheader during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship against Norfolk State.

They lost badly in the first game, 10-3, but came back to stop the Lady Spartans NSU, 7-3, in the second game to win the title.

In the second game, freshman Brittany Langlois pitched a complete game and had three hits. Senior Shine Huwe blasted a home run and she and Nina Ferguson each contributed two RBI.

The NCAA tournament is double-elimination tournament. Winners of the regional rounds will move on to the super regionals May 23-26.
