As a part of Tornado Awareness Month, the Jackson Weather Examiner will review severe storms that affected the state throughout the month of November.
On this date -November 19th:
In 1964, three long tracked F2 tornadoes were reported each in Quitman, Coahoma, and Sunflower Counties with tracks of 15, 17, and 12 miles.
In 1983, high winds were reported across several counties with winds over 50 mph reported in Hinds.
In 1988, 2 people were killed and 16 were injured after 14 tornadoes, ranging from F-1 to F-3 strength and high winds swept across portions of the state.
A 120 yard wide, F-3 tornado tracked 13 miles across Lee County, killing 2 people and injuring 11 others. Three people were injured by a 100 yard wide, F-3 tornado in Sunflower County and 2 people were injured by a 90 yard wide, F-2 tornado in Leake County.
In 1991, high winds swept across several counties with 9 people injured. (4 people injured in Panola County and 5 people injured in Warren County)
