Mississippi Storm History: What happened on this date (November 13)

As a part of Tornado Awareness Month, the Jackson Weather Examiner will review severe storms that affected the state throughout the month of November.

On this date -November 13th:

This was a relatively quiet day in storm history across Mississippi with only a few reports of severe weather.

In 1972, two tornadoes were reported in the state.  A 200 yards wide, F-1 tornado touched down and tracked one mile across Smith County, causing 25,000 dollars in property damage.   A 50 yards wide, F-2 tornado touched down and tracked 1 mile across Lamar County, causing 250,000 dollars in property damage.

In 1957, winds over 70 mph were reported across Warren County.
