John is fourth generation restaurateur. John's vision for success is providing a family style restaurant offering superior guest services, natural delicious foods, fresh ingredients and an inviting dining experience.
In 2009, a friend mentioned to John the San Juan Capistrano location becoming available. With several years of planning, negotiations and a remodel, Mission Grill was born in 2012. On July 10, 2014, Mission Grill is honored with the Best Business award.
Mission Grill sits in the heart of San Juan Capistrano with a perfect view of the historic Mission and steps from Los Rios Historic District and San Juan Capistrano Train Depot.
If you are not familiar with this restaurant's gourmet menu, you might think it's a “fast food, take out Mexican-American style restaurant.” John created the menu through his joy for cooking delicious foods. On a special note, John invited a chef from the Dana Point Ritz Carlton to assist his staff with specialized nouvelle cuisine training techniques. Additionally, menu contributions were made by celebrity chef Rahm Fama.
John invited me to join him at a lovely outdoor umbrella table overlooking the hills of San Juan Capistrano for an incredible array of inviting menu gems. We enjoyed grilled Calamari French Fries and perfectly grilled zucchini slices with amazing flavors. The SJC Salad and special Spring Mix Salad arrived with a choice of homemade Balsamic or Raspberry Vinaigrette ~ both so fresh and sensational. We shared an amazing Gorgonzola Bacon Burger which included a hint of sweet Maple Aioli sauce ~ a delightful harmony of flavors.
John Gillotti has created the perfect restaurant for all occasions. The menu offers an array of superfluous choices all made to order including appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, tacos, combo plates and desserts. Hand crafted cocktails, beer and wine along with Molly's famous martinis are offered daily.
Full catering is available both on and off premise. The restaurant accommodates up to 150 guests. A Kid's menu is offered. Free parking.
