After a serious car accident February 19, 2013, on I-5 in Lewis County, WA, a dog has gone missing. His owners, Don and Pat Robertson, were returning from a dog show in California with him and were almost home when the accident happened. Although the three humans are safe and sound, as are the other dogs, one dog did run off.
His name is Steeler, and he is a light brindle Whippet with white legs and a white chest and neck. There is a photo of him on the Facebook Dog Show Results page. He responds to whistling, and is very frightened, so if you see him, approach slowly, and call immediately. Contact phone numbers listed on the Facebook Dog Show Results page are for Penny King at 360-600-1849 and Rachel D. Morris at 360-520-0375. Any sightings an also be reported to Whippet Rescue And Placement (WRAP) at www.whippet-rescue.com or your local veterinarian or shelter.
Steeler’s family is desperate to have him back. Whippets are coursing breeds, which means they run significantly faster than other dogs and also over longer distances. He could be in your area. Just because the accident happened in Lewis County in the Centralia area does not mean he hasn’t reached King County, Pierce County, or just about anywhere at this point. Last listed sighting was at Summerville and 603 at the tracks at 4:00pm February 19th.
