The body of a missing SIU student named Pravin Varughese has been discovered in the woods not far from the Southern Illinois University campus in Carbondale, Illinois. A new update on this tragic story reveals that police authorities do not suspect that foul play is involved in his death, and that he may have frozen to death, as evidenced by the freezing conditions outside this week and Varughese found only wearing light clothes. In addition, his body’s location site has also been made public this morning: the 1400 block of Carbondale’s own East Main Street. Web Pro News provides the update to this recent find this Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, and the devastation it has left in its wake for the school community and Varughese’s loved ones.

For those who knew Pravin Varughese, the sadness in finding the body of the missing SIU student is too difficult to describe. According to the new report, many people were still hoping that the 19-year-old Varughese was only missing and not dead, even though the young man had not been to any of his classes or spotted on campus in over a week.

While anyone familiar with Carbondale knows it is a rather large and sprawling area, literally hundreds of people — family, friends, and students — joined in the recent search for Pravin Varughese, covering much of Southern Illinois University campus and beyond in the hopes of finding him. The now grieving family had even offered a $15,000 reward for any people willing or able to provide clues that might lead to the discovery of the missing SIU student.

Tragically, the 19-year-old male was discovered dead this Tuesday morning in a heavily wooded area, not far from the 1400 block of East Main Street in Carbondale. Updates on his finding reveal that there was no visible evidence of foul play to his cold body, leading officials to believe he had frozen to death in the woods.

Wrote one devastated family member on the Facebook page made for the missing young man once his body was found:

“On behalf of our family, we wanted to thank you all for your kind words, endless support and prayers for Pravin. Authorities have confirmed this morning that they have found his body. We ask that you continue to keep Pravin’s parents and sisters in your prayers as we go through this difficult time and mourn the loss of a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin & friend.”

The precise cause of death surrounding the missing SIU student has not been confirmed by the local county’s medical examiner’s office. However, police authorities are fairly certain that the cause was freezing to death — exposure to the frigid temperatures and cold winds outside. One of the last witnesses to see Pravin Varughese before he vanished said he only was wearing light clothing and failed to have a winter jacket on. It is believed that he got lost in the woods overnight last week, and the freezing conditions took their toll.

Foul play is not suspected in this case, though the updated report also announces that a full autopsy and toxicology report is already underway for Varughese. It is expected that the body’s examination will yield a certain cause of death by either Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

Writes one grieving friend on Twitter:

"This brings me to tears. Please keep Pravin and his loved ones in your prayers. #PrayforPravin"
