Varughese, a criminal justice student had been missing since leaving a party last Wednesday. Police say that the student was given a ride home from the party by a recent acquaintance. It was said that after an argument, he got out of the car and walked into a wooded area. Carbondale police believe that the difficult terrain and low temperatures contributed to Varughese’s difficulty in finding his way out of the wooded area – and ultimately dying in the woods.

The family of the teen offered a $15,000 reward for any information about his whereabouts.

The family issued a statement on Tuesday after the body was found by the police which said:

On behalf of our Family, we wanted to thank you all for your kind words, endless support and prayers for Pravin. Authorities have confirmed this morning that they have found his body. We ask that you continue to keep Pravin’s parents and sisters in your prayers as we go through this difficult time and mourn the loss of a beloved Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend.

Pravin Varughese was from Morton Grove, Illinois.
