Seven-week-old Aniston Walker of Memphis, Tenn. was reported missing by her mother, Andrea Walker, on Jan. 9. Yesterday, police in Memphis discovered the remains of a baby fitting Aniston’s description in a roadside ditch.
Aniston’s body was found lying face down in that ditch next to the Singleton Parkway in Millington, which is about one half-hour north of Memphis.
The child had on a onesie – the same type of clothing Aniston was last seen wearing – and appeared to have been on the side of the road for some time, according to Millington investigators.
The baby’s body was discovered by a biker who had just pulled over to the side of the road in order to wait for some other biker friends to catch up. That unidentified biker called the police, according to CBS News.
The baby's mother, Andrea Walker, told police that Aniston disappeared after she left the baby at home with her 3-year-old child while taking her 5-year-old child to school.
The police were suspicious of the mother almost immediately, and charged her the day after Aniston was reported missing, with one count of Aggravated Child Abuse and one count of Aggravated Child Neglect or Endangerment, according to Local Memphis.
The 33-year-old mother had previously pleaded not guilty to those charges and was freed on $250,000 bond.
Today, accompanied by her lawyer, Walker turned herself in to the Memphis police where she was arrested and charged.
