Missing elderly woman found buried in her own back yard; police arrest grandson

A woman that went missing on Monday was found dismembered and buried in her own backyard.

Johanna Christy, 77, from Corpus Christi, Texas was reported missing by her son who lives in San Antonio. He told the police he couldn't reach her on the telephone, and asked for a welfare check.

Officer's arrived at her home on the 3800 block of Bentwood Lane and found Johanna's Toyota parked in the driveway and her cane in the front seat, but no one answered the door. During the search, the police dogs led the officers to the backyard where her remains were found in a shallow grave, reports KZTV10 News.

When authorities questioned the neighbors they said that David Christy, 27, Johanna's grandson left when the police showed up.

The police found David at the Dolphin Landing Apartments around 8:30 p.m. David fought with the police and tried to evade being arrested, but the police persevered and took him into custody.

David is being questioned as a suspect in connection with his grandmother's death.
